09.29.05 Meeting

Img_0801Giving the invocation was Mark Watkins and Tom Jacobson led the singing. Larry Zilliox brought along his son, Michael, as a guest today. Larry also had his ticket drawn and tried unsuccessfully for the white marble in the Marble Drawing. Kathy Pfeffer-Nohre & Linda Roles gave details about this year's Rose Sale and order forms. The goal is for each Rotarian to sell 8 dozen roses. Linda also was proud to announce during Good News/Bad News that yesterday's United Way Silent Auction & Chili Feed produced record numbers!

Sad News

Kzdoorjpg_1Karen Zilliox passed away Friday morning, the 23rd of September.

Karen's funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27, at Calvary Lutheran Church.  Visitation will be at the Anderson Funeral Home on Monday, September 26, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Keep Larry and his family in your thoughts and prayers in this difficult time.

Sheriff Bill Ingebrigtsen was introduced by Don Krueger for today's program. Sheriff Ingebrigsen spoke of the tremendous negative affect of Meth and the steps that are being taken to combat the problem. He also explained that to truly combat it a community effort is needed. The telephone number for the Douglas County Sheriff is 762-8151 and the public is encouraged to report any suspected Meth use.

Good News/Bad News

Jody Shaskey-Setright said that Governor Pawlenty proclaimed this week to be designated Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota Week in celebration of 140 years of service to Minnesotans.  Lutheran Social Service has been providing social services in the Alexandria area since 1965.
