Alexandria Area Community Foundation & Rotary

Due to another commitment I entered today's meeting near the end. If any Alex Rotarians that were present have highlights to add (drawings,good/news bad news, etc.) please email me or you can also add a comment at the bottom of this post. The meeting was a combined Rotary meeting & Alexandria Area Community Foundation annual meeting. Thank you to Jeff W. for arranging it. Some notes I took were that the Foundation was started in 1992 by a group of citizens interested in creating a permanent vehicle that would solve the evolving needs of the Alexandria area over time. The starter was a $5,000 gift. At today's meeting, $17,500 in grants were given to organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Theatre L'homme Dieu, Listening Ear Crisis Center, Central MN Elder Network, The Windmill Project, Douglas County 4-H, Vikingland Curling Club, MN Lakes Maritime Society, Alexandria Area Arts Assoc. and Lake Henry Bath House. Rotarians that are on the Board of the Foundation include Jeff W. , Jody H. and Fred B..
