Unicel

Rick Ekstrand CEO Rick Ekstrand was introduced by Rotarian and Unicel empoyee, Mike Unrein(pictured above in the blue shirt next to Alexandria Rotary Club President Kevin Hockert). Rick talked about the early days of RCC and the outlook. Many Rotarians also were given tours of the facility after the meeting.

The Township of Urness

Img_0934 Ralph Tillitt introduced a guest, his wife Carol, as well as today's speaker, Kathy Sletto of the Douglas County Historical Society. Kathy gave an entertaining presentation about the work that has been done to chronicle the history of Urness Township(named after a town in Norway and with a current population of 266). Among many interesting and funny tales was the Bachelors of Urness and Moe Calendar.Urness_moe_bachelors_2 Ralph serves on the Board of Directors of the Historical Society as does fellow Rotarians Dave Anderson and Don Krueger.
Other meeting notes: Dr. Joe Haack was the Mystery Person and selected Linda Kloubec as she consistently makes the rounds each week to greet each Rotarian and pass out The Runetarian...Linda also won the $10 drawing...Sonny Osterberg tried for $246 but the pot continues to grow...Kevin Hockert has found us a new piano player!...Jeremy and Sara Anderson are new parents of twin daughters, Lauren and MadelineImg_0933

The Girl's Tournament was won by Ortonville. The Alexandria Girls placed second, the Melrose Girls third and the St. Mary's Girls fourth.
