The Four-Way Test

  • "Of the things we think, say or do:

    Is it the TRUTH?

Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"

Glenwood Rotary Road Race

3haacks Joe Haack(pictured with wife, Nancy, and daughter, Amanda) and myself, Craig Mische, participated in the 33rd Annual Waterama Road Race(Magic Mile,5k and 10k)sponsored by the Glenwood Rotary Club. Joe's son, Alex, and nephew, Jacob, ran in the Magic Mile race and were #3 and #1 in the 12 and under category. Joe and I started the 5k at Peter's Resort and the course followed the shore line of Minnewaska, finishing at the Ballroom. We didn't perform quite as well as Alex and Jacob but most importantly finished in 24 minutes in hot and humid weather(I had an Alex Rotary t-shirt on so my slow speed gave the club good exposure).Curtlarson Also pictured is Glenwood Rotarian and Assistant District Governor (and frequent visitor to the Alexandria Rotary Club meetings) Curt Larson(click the photo to enlarge).

2006 Fish Fry

It was a day for shorts, flip flops and Aloha shirts(modeled graciously, and with affection, by Lee Hockert). Yet, Rotarians such as Greg Slotten stood in the sun in a shirt and tie with a smile to greet each Alexandria Rotarian for the 2006 Fish Fry at City Park. Many guests joined the club and 2006-07 President Jeremy Anderson to enjoy fish, corn on the cob, potato salad, cole slaw and lemonade. It was a great day to enjoy a meal with a group of people that contributed part of the 118 million dollars to the 2004-05 Rotary Foundation which supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. Also, thanks are due to Fred Bursch for providing music at today's meeting. Nice job Fred.

Productivity Enhancement Program (PEP)

Russianexchange

LeeandmaryLee Hockert introduced Mary Balzer to discuss the Productivity Enhancement Program (PEP). It is the flagship program of the Center for Citizen Initiatives. This program provides intensive U.S.-based management training for Russian entrepreneurs. PEP, unique among American-sponsored business programs, ensures that non-English speaking Russian entrepreneurs receive exposure to Western business practices and, in addition, allows Americans to showcase their successful businesses.

Marybalzer_1 Mary, a longtime Rotarian and Past President of the Minneapolis City of Lakes Rotary Club and a former District Governor, is a volunteer coordinator for this area. Mary also currently serves on the Board for District 5950. To learn more about this program and what is involved, click here.

Please note that next week's meeting is the annual fish fry at City Park.
