The Alexandria Aces

Team1 Larry Novotny and the Alexandria Aces treated the Alexandria Rotary Club to a display of the Ace's skill and a talk about their history. The Aces are in demand across the United States (tonight they are at a University of Minnesota basketball game) and around the country. A few of the Aces demonstrated a few of their tricks and as you will see below, may have a potential recruit in Rotarian Coni McKay.

Honor Guard

Honorguard

The Douglas County Sheriff's Honor Guard (Brandon Chaffins, Paul Trautman, Art Vinson and Ron Boyden) presented colors at today's meeting. Afterwards, they talked about their training, fund raising, Guard history and the pride they hold in carrying out their primary mission, honoring Minnesota law enforcement officers who have given their lives in the line of duty.

Other meeting notes: Over $500 as well an non-perishable food items was collected for the Food Shelf at today's meeting.

The Food Shelf

RonRon Domschot was the guest speaker today at the weekly Alexandria Rotary Club meeting. Ron is well known in Alexandria, having spent many years as an educator and coach in Alexandria. He impacted thousands of kid's lives. Ron has retired from teaching and now uses his energy and spirit at the Outreach Food Shelf located at 1205 Lake Street. Ron spoke today about the positive influence of the Food Shelf and what the citizens of Douglas County can do to help. One way to help and also have a great time, is to be at 8th and Nokomis between 11:45 am & 12:45 pm on Thursday, December 14th. The Canadian Pacific Railway's Holiday TrainHoliday_logoe04_1 will be passing through Alexandria bringing food for the Food Shelf and providing entertainment including Wisconsin folk-rocker Willy Porter, New Grass Revival guitarist Pat Flynn and country star Tracey Brown. Please bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation to the show.
