2007 Chop and Corn Jubilee

Jubilee Make a big mark on the square for Wednesday, August 15th on your calendar for the 2007 Chop and Corn Jubilee at the Alexandria Fire Department. Alexandria Rotarians and Alexandria Firefighters will be husking corn at 6 am and look forward to serving the community.

Fish Fry

The annual fish fry at City Park was today and as usual, Charlie Meyer and his staff kept Rotarians well fed. There was no program today. Just good food, handshakes and conversation.

Lakes Area Humane Society

At today's meeting, Todd Emmons and Michelle Kelley gave a presentation about the Lakes Area Humane Society(LAHS) and the upcoming Fun Run. Todd, a Rotarian and also a board member of the LAHS, presented statistics about shelter's operations and also covered the needs that events such as the fun run will help fund.

Michelle Kelley is the coordinator for the Alexandria Fun Run. See shared with our club information about the Fun Run that is scheduled for September 15th. It will include a 5k, a 10k and a mile dog walk. A $15 entrance fee will include a long sleeve Fun Run t-shirt and all proceeds will go to the humane society. Michelle has experienced a lot of enthusiasm for the event and added that the entire Blizzard hockey team will be participating.

On Marjorie VanGorp's long resume is 'Volunteer at the Douglas County Historical Society'. Recently, she was able to add 'Oldest Student at Alexandria's Technical College'. At today's meeting, she regaled the club with her experiences and thoughts from being a student in today's world.
