Alexandria Area Arts Association
Thank you to Tastefully Simple's Keri Mohrer for taking time out of her schedule to inform the Alexandria Rotary Club about a new look to the Alexandria Area Arts Association Theatre. Kerri serves on the Board of the Alexandria Area Arts Association (referred to as the Quad A by most) and heads their Public Relations Committee.
The theatre was ready for a makeover so “Operation Renovation” was commenced. It was a fundraising campaign that raised more than $150,000. Construction commenced in July on the major portion of the renovation project — replacing the crumbling front façade with beautiful brick facing and earlier in the summer, construction was completed on new men’s and women’s dressing rooms and a new backstage bathroom. The main stage floor has also been leveled and air conditioning installed in the lobby as part of the project.
This Saturday, September 20th, the public is invited to an Open House at the AAAA Theatre from 1-4 pm.

Operation Happy Note
Barb Baker from Operation Happy Note gave a great presentation about the non-profit she and her husband Steve formed in 2005. Operation Happy Note raises money to purchase and send musical instruments to deployed service men and women throughout the world.
Thank you to all that participated in an auction for a Happy Note t-shirt and a Happy Note hat. An especially big thanks to the winners, Mark Watkins and Tim Bush.

Fire Safety
Alexandria's Fire Chief Dennis Stark was at the Alexandria Rotary Club weekly meeting at the Broadway Ballroom. Besides passing on statistics about our volunteer Fire Department and Minnesota's fire statistics (of which, our FD rates very high), Chief Stark answered questions about fire safety and passed on helpful information such as the relatively low cost of having fire sprinklers in your home.
