The competitive spirit was in the air at the Alexandria Rotary
Club’s November 5th meeting. The results of the annual rose sale
competition were announced, with team Vikings squeaking out a narrow victory
over team Gophers and claiming their “just desserts” –
cheesecake!
The fundraiser was a victory for the whole club, though, as
approximately $11,500 was raised after expenses.
Kathy Nohre again took the
title of top sales star, with 166 dozen sold but was followed closely by rose selling ace
Tom Haase. The program followed the
sports theme, as Dave Hartmann introduced Jefferson High School football coach Mike Empting and
volleyball coach Becky Schlichting to share highlights of the fall seasons.
