It's Rotary Rose Day!

Rotarians Jim Bill and Vic Dale were happy to pose with two dozen of the exquisite roses available on October 25 through the annual Rotary Rose Sale. Members picked up their roses and enjoyed lunch at the H. Boyd Nelson facility, which has graciously hosted the event for several years.

A Lesson About Wine

At the October 18, 2012, meeting of the Alexandria Rotary Club, member Sue Jung welcomed Carlos Creek Winery owner Tami Bredeson. Tami informed the club about the process and business of wine-making.

Happy Birthday, Bud!

At the October 18, 2012, meeting of the Alexandria Rotary Club, Honorary Member Karl "Bud" Kolstad was honored on the occasion of his 99th birthday. Kudos to you, Bud, and thanks for all you've contributed to Rotary over many years!

Funds for Douglas County Historical Society. Fun With Roses.

At the October 11 meeting of the Alexandria Rotary Club, past President Rachel Barduson and current President Patty Peterson presented a check for $5,000 to the Douglas County Historical Society. The funds, from a grant awarded to the club, will be used to construct a shed in the society’s garden. The check was accepted by Beth Hoover and Annie Skoglund. Also at the meeting, a crack team of sales consultants prepped the club for their upcoming rose sale fundraiser.

Alexandria Blizzard Hockey

The Alexandria Rotary Club welcomed the new coach and two players from the Alexandria Blizzard hockey team to their October 4 meeting. Coach Jeff Crouse introduced players Garrett Skinner and Ian Eckland and provided an overview of the team and its activities. The team recently transitioned to a Tier 3 team, comprising players aged 16-20. They are 3-2 on the season so far.
