The Rotary flags are up on Broadway to celebrate the 42nd Annual 2007 Corn and Pork Chop Jubilee. Joe Haack spent his evening jumping out the back of a Tahoe (with an air conditioned Rotarian at the wheel) with a step ladder in one hand and a flag in the other.
Make a big mark on the square for Wednesday, August 15th on your calendar for the 2007 Chop and Corn Jubilee at the Alexandria Fire Department. Alexandria Rotarians and Alexandria Firefighters will be husking corn at 6 am and look forward to serving the community.
Mitchell Chlian of Forada was one of about 2,550 people who attended Wednesday’s 41st annual Corn and Pork Chop Jubilee, which was deemed a huge success, according to organizers. Chlian attended the event, which is sponsored by the Alexandria Rotary Club and the Alexandria Fire Department, with his uncle and aunt, Shad and Leslie Schmidt of Alexandria. So how much food do 2,550 people consume during an event like this? An estimated 4,600 ears of corn and 3,400 pork chops were enjoyed. [Echo Press]
